Book Reviews of Le Petit Prince (French Language Edition)

Book Review: Entertains and teaches
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book for the first time my Junior year in High School. I have never been able to forget this book! It took me back to a time when I was a young child and allowed me to appreciate it on that level. At the same time, I was tuned into to all the deeper aspects of the themes of the novel. I definately have a new appreciation for the little things in life I tend to take for granted. Great book!

Book Review: Great Story For All ages
Summary: 5 Stars

Le Petit Prince is a great story for adults and kids alike. Kids can read this book and see it as only a story about a little boy from another planet who wants to find somone who understands him. Adults can read this book and see deeper meanings to what is happening. If you dig into the story you find things in this book dealing with issues we have to face. It's a great book and I would recommend it to any of my friends but I would have to tell them to get the English version. I would prefer to read the French version.

Book Review: Timeless classic
Summary: 5 Stars

I was fortunate enough to read this book in my French class at school. I was previously unfamiliar with the book and expected it to be nothing but a simple story. Instead I found a book found with remarkable insight, but displayed in a beautiful, yet straightforward manner. I recommend this book to french teachers who are considering sharing it with their class, or anyone capable of reading french. I have read the english version as well, but have found the original french to be far superior.

Book Review: Nothing makes me angrier...

than seeing this book in the children's section at the store! Even Amazon recommends this story for "9 to 12 year-olds". What nonsense.

A beautifully moving story to illustrate a sound and healthy philosophy. A friend of mine, who enjoys philosophy, recommended that I read "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"... OK, a little convoluted, but OK... I, in turn, recommended Le Petit Prince, which can be read in an hour and is far less taxing on the brain.

If you have already perfected the simple way of life put forth in this book, then you have every right to condemn my previous statement- but I don't think that very many people have attained that level of "Zen"- or whatever you want to call it.

A l'elite restreinte

Book Review: A true friend, this book is
Summary: 5 Stars

How true to life Le Petit Prince is! We read it in class, and I must say it is the most wonderful book I've ever read as part of any curriculum, one of the very few which haven't exasperated me to death.

It really is such a joy to read it in its original, French version--the English translations we looked at got a bit clunky, language-wise, at times--there really is no substitute for reading the exact words Saint-Exupery put down.

Read it! Be enlightened about "le drame de baobabs," les grandes personnes, and all this lovely stuff...
