Book Review: Audio cassette LEAN MEAN THIRTEEN by Janet Evanovich Summary: 2 StarsI always listen to audio books when I travel in my car. I was listening to the above & was enjoying it very much - when I got to the last tape, it was defective & didn't work. I am EXTREMELY disapointed!!!!!!
Book Review: Disappointed Summary: 3 StarsI was so looking forward to this latest Stephanie Plum adventure and was very disappointed. It's as if Ms. Evanovich has lost interest in the series. The storyline never evolved and I was left feeling cheated.
I am a latecomer to the series. I fell in love with Stephanie, Morelli, Ranger and all the other quirky characters while between jobs during the summer of 2006. I was immersed in Stephanie's life for 12 books. I can't describe what a letdown it was when I finished book 12 and realized I would have to wait a year for another installment of Stephanie's life.
I think it may be time to either retire the series or reinvent Stephanie Plum. When Stephanie was new to bounty hunting, her relationship with Morelli was a challenge and her relationship with Ranger was evolving, she was a far more interesting character. Stephanie now needs to grow up, become more independent and self-sufficient. Maybe she could relocate and work for Ranger in another city/state. This would allow for new challenges and characters. As much as I love Morelli, it's time for Stephanie to let him go. The relationship has become too comfortable and no longer is subject to the sexual tension of the previous books. Her relationship with Ranger still has the edge and should be kept that way.
Fearless 14 is due out in about 2 months and I hope Ms. Evanovich takes us back to the formula that worked so well in her earlier Plum books.
Book Review: What's not to love? Summary: 4 StarsI simply adore Janet Evanovich. Period. This book is just as good as its predecessors. It's fun, witty and the story line is, if not totally original, interesting. I always love the way Janet can set up scenes and describe characters in such a way that I feel I am there.
A laugh a minute!
