Book Reviews of Leap Day

Book Review: An author to watch
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved this book! It's so original and unique. In fact, I've never read any book like it.

It happens all in one day, gets inside every character's head, and takes place in Orlando, with lots of Disney references!

It was laugh-out-loud funny, wonderfully written, and suspenseful to the very last word. It was fast-paced, touching, and lots of fun.

I know this has been said before, but Wendy Mass is an author to watch!

Book Review: Excellent!
Summary: 5 Stars

Everything about this book is spot on.

Reading a book from the perspective of someone born on February 29th was interesting, but that wasn't the only interesting thing about this book.

The very format of following one fairly ordinary day in the life of a teenager, and all the run-of-the-mill interactions was a very good idea, and it works, even though it sounds boring. The way Mass shows us not only Josie is feeling, but how everyone else around her has their own secrets, is ingenious, and can be very touching and sweet. The setting of Orlando was great also.

This is a book that looks fluffy and fun, and is, but has other levels that make it very rewarding and will put a smile on your face.

Book Review: I was born on Leap Day!
Summary: 5 Stars

Coming from the perspective of someone born on Leap Day, I thought the books accuracy about Leap Day was impressive. What a delightful day Josie had. I wish I had a book like this when I was turning 16... on my 4th birthday!

Wendy Mass obviously knows her characters, and her audience, well. I couldn't wait to get back to the book to see how Josie's day was going. It was cool to get to see the experiences of the day through the eyes of her family and friends too. Not just her.

It's a great book and should be in every library; home, school, and city! I'm going to donate one to my local High School. I hope you will too.

Book Review: Josie's DaY
Summary: 4 Stars

This well written, mind-setting book, by Wendy Mass, is a great book about this young girl having her once every four years birthday. Her talent: acting. Favorite Class: Drama. Her name: Josie Taylor. Josie goes through a great day, without knowing what clues lie beneath eveything she unraps.

Josie is a well put teen that wishes that her birthday, be the best ever. While you read on and on, you see how her freinds think of her and what the go through. Later, the story just gets better.

I would recommend this book to anyone over 11. This insperational book reflects on how a normal teen can change in a moment. I hope one day, there can be more books this interesting and influncing. It also tells people that they should be who they are. And like Josie says "Tommorow, I'll wake up to a new day, being myself."

Book Review: LEAP DAY was sooooo awesome!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book because I really liked this authors other book, A Mango Shaped Space. This one was really different, but soooo good too! For one thing, it all takes place in one day--February 29th--It was like you were in the characters heads the whole time! Each chapter is an hour, but then it goes back over that same hour but from different characters views, so you see how everyone affects everyone else, it's hard to explain, but it's REALLY cool. I seriously did not stop reading this until my mom took it away at 1 in the morning!!!!!
