Book Review: A great introductory Obj-C book and tutorial
Summary: 5 Stars
Years ago, another of Knaster's books taught me how to program the Macintosh. Now, wanting to learn how to program the iPhone, I find this latest book a great stepping stone to iPhone programming. The authors do a great job of keeping the book interesting and include plenty of analogies, and some humor, to make their point.
The book also includes some material on Xcode and Cocoa - enough to let you write simple sample programs and to familiarize you with many of the key concepts that you will need for both Mac and iPhone programming.
The book starts with a description of the extensions to the C language and then goes on to discuss objects, classes, methods, inheritance, composition, memory management, object initialization, categories, protocols and more.
I highly recommend this book for those who know C and want to learn Objective C for iPhone or Mac programming. If you're like me, you'll have fun with this book.
