This book is excellent. I've read it all and it takes a long time to go throught all the individuals chapters: 230 in all for 170 pages. The book is organised in small chapters rarely longer than two pages. Each step we learn something new. Each step needs exercise and comprehension.The great thing is that you need only THIS book to achieve understanding music.
I now use the book as a reference when something has popped out of my head or when i see a sign i did not use for a while on sheet music.
This guide is very useful to learn the rudiments of rhythm, pitch and notation. The pages are crammed with essential information arranged meticulously, and enriched with musical exemples to clinch each point as it arises. The language is that of the experienced teacher - concise, persuasive and never boring.
