Book Review: Singing AND Writing for Success
Summary: 5 Stars

I am not someone who is generally overwhelmed by 'celebrity' and I think that this is what I find so endearing about Clay Aiken. The content of this book is very introspective and reflective but not in a self-obsessed way. I sat down with this novel and it took only a few hours to read. I felt as if I had sat down to a conversation with a good friend! Clay is very honest and real in his approach to both his music and his writing which is commendable in these 'celebrity' obsessed times. I would thoroughly recommend this read to all who can understand the reality of coming from obscurity and being launched into the public eye. It's as if Clay could have been your neighbour - a real person; from real beginnings. He remains grounded and I think that this is the biggest compliment he could pay to all who care for and support him - family, friends and fans alike. He's the type of idol you can truly idolise!

Book Review: A Book That Stirs Emotions
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a huge Clay fan, so I knew when this book came out, I had to run out and get it. But I'll tell you right now, the last book that I read before this one was about five years ago in high school. Books don't really appeal to me. But this book did! Clay is not only talented in music, but in expressing himself using the written word. I couldn't put it down, and finished it in about two days.
This book not only shows you the flaws on his beautiful soul, but it shows you what he had to go through to become the beautiful person he is. Not anyone could write about their life so openly and publish it for everyone to read.
I've read this book time and time again, and I find something different everytime. I also own the audio version, which I reccommend to any Clay fan!!

Book Review: Couldn't put it down
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to admit that I think Clay was the real winner of American Idol 2, despite what the "votes" said. This book was amazing not because it was about him, but rather it made me think about my own life. How would I have handled the situations of his life, from living in near poverty to becoming this pop icon. I feel fortunate to have someone out there that can be a positive role model to young kids. Keep it up, Clay!

Book Review: :(
Summary: 3 Stars

I thought this book was really a let down. Being, a Ruben fan I thought it was going to be about his American Idol journeys and stuff. I was really disapointed. Overall it was a good book but very poorly written. Go Ruben!

Book Review: A Worthwhile Read
Summary: 4 Stars

I really wasn't going to read this book. Now, don't get me wrong, I like Clay's music and was impressed when I saw him perform live. But a book? Somehow, I just didn't think that a 25-year-old could have all that much to say at this point in his life. But when I stopped at the library the other day, there was the book on the shelf. I picked it up, took it home, and read it in one sitting.

I was wrong. Clay Aiken may be young but he has already learned some valuable lessons. His voice is strong and clear in the narrative, and he is surprisingly frank about the traumas that he has already endured. His pain is very close to the surface, and yet he approaches all of this with humor and clarity.

I was drawn in immediately as he talked about being picked on as a child. I too experienced the cruelty of other children and those scars run very deep. And, like Clay, I learned that what other people think really doesn't matter, and eventually discovered my own "voice." That he has come to this conclusion so young is a blessing. Many people, myself included, have spent years trying to get there.

I was impressed by his dedication to teaching and his working with children with special needs. His foundation is doing the very thing that he yearned to do as a student and I applaud him for that. Let's face it, Clay could have "taken the money and run" but he's chosen to do something positive with his fame. I think that's what sets him apart from others.

I feel as though I "know" this young man a little bit better after having read this book, and I am glad that I did. I will look at him a little differently now. Thanks Clay.
