Book Review: GREAT Story for ANY Teenager
Summary: 5 Stars

Well I'm not really a fan of Clay Aiken. I didn't even really know who he was until I saw him on Dr. Phil. My mom was watching the show and I decided to sit down and watch it with her. Well I saw them talk about his book 'Learning To Sing; Hearing The Music In Your Life' and it interested me. So many celebrities now days just weren't like what I was seeing him to be.
I saw that the book could appeal to younger people, like teenagers and stuff. Being only 17 this interested me.
Since the book was recommended by Dr. Phil (someones whom opinion I find worth listening too)I decided to give the book a go. Besides I'm an avid reader so I know a thing or two about a good book or a bad book.
I was interested in the way the book was written, not really grammaticaly correct and everything. But that only made me appreciate the content in the book even more. Being young I found I could connect better with the speaking of his southern words instead of some overly revised, trying to be high book.
I liked being able to read his words as if he was talking to me, they felt to be true and spoken from his heart. A rare treat now days with books of this sort.
His experiences were easily relived through his words and even if they were not exaclty what I was going through it helped me to understand that no matter how often we think we are... we are not alone.
I'm not a person who gets picked on and such but the book helped me to better cope with who I was. It helped me learn how to define myself and to stay true to myself in world were 'fitting in' seems to be everything. Like he says, if people don't like you for you, then they aren't worth your time anyway.
It also helped me to view other people differently. It showed me to look beyond exteriors and see who the person is inside.
Sure he talks about other stuff, like his idol experience and his fans and such, but I even enjoyed reading that. Because like I said, it was liking listening to someone tell a story as if they were sitting in front of you speaking to you.
Whoever says the story is far from inspirational must not have heart because I felt the story to be truly uplifting and inspirational.
I would recommend this book to anyone! It is a great read and you are never to old to learn something new... which is new advice even the oldest of people could find useful. I especially would recommend this book to any young person going through school, or even dealing with the everyday issues of growing up. Mr. Aiken is young enough to still write in a way to connect with a younger audience, but old enough and experienced enough to give advice.
Then again this is just an all around good book. And if you're looking for an easy, good, read that will brighten your day, make you think, and give you new perspectives on life then this book is for you.
This book would look great on any bookshelf. Clay Aiken fan or not.

Book Review: Pretty good.
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm a big Clay fan and from the reviews, I thought this would be a bit better. It was well written, but was a bit on the religious side. I found myself skimming thru that stuff.
Clay has had an interesting life and some of the stories about his birth and step-father made me a little sad. They seem like real jerks and didn't understand what a wonderful child they had in their family.
If you are a Clay fan, you will most likely enjoy it. It's a fast read, a bit all over the place at times, but worth the few hours it takes to complete. Clay truly is an amazing human being. There should be more young people with his sized heart.

Book Review: Great memoir read by original artist
Summary: 5 Stars

This memoir is a wonderful recollection of childhood and adolescent memories, both wonderful and painful. It recalls a childhood filled with unfulfilled paternal love, and also some funny, awkward, and happy moments. Clay Aiken has some powerful lessons to teach adolescents who might feel as he did during his pre-adolescent and adolescent years. His tributes to the powerful positive influences in his life are inspiring. This audio CD of the book is read by the author,Clay Aiken. His natural voice lends to the authentic, honest, appreciative, grassroots, feel of the book.

Book Review: not the best but inspirational
Summary: 3 Stars

This was surely inspirational, even though it was not that well written. the first part started like a child narrating, but his writing got much better towards the mid part of the book; it also gives us a glimpse of what clay had been through in life and surely he had to go through much from a indifferent biological father to dealing with a narrowminded stepfather. with his unusual looks he was clearly picked on and bullied by his peers. knowing all these gives the readers an insight of his unique and unusual persona, and how he will definitely continue to struggle with issues for most of his lifetime.
whatever happens I believe that it is his talent, drive and motivation to succeed that will keep Clay on the track to superstrdom. there is really no one quite like him and I really wish Clay AIken all the luck in the world.

Book Review: Clay Faces the Abyss
Summary: 5 Stars

Clay Aiken is about courage. He is about love. And he's about joy. This book moved me. Clay is able to stand at the edge of the world -- prostrate exposed, vulnerable and sensitive -- look into the great wide dark abyss and not be afraid to enter that abyss with his eyes open, fists clenched and his chin up. Clay knows who he is, and he lives by a code of honor and pride that only maybe 10% of all the world (though that may be overestimating it) can hold themselves to. I admire Clay and hope he keeps opening doors.
