Book Reviews of Learning to Sing: Hearing the Music in Your Life

Book Review: A Truly Inspirational Memoir...
Summary: 5 Stars

I love Clay and reading this book made me love him even more. This book was definitely not a disappointment at all whatsoever. Being a teen I can totally relate to what he's been through in the past. Even with all his success you can bet Clay hasn't let all the fame get to his head. And no, this book is not about how to sing. Clay talks about his younger years, school life, family problems, rise to fame.. etc. This guy has overcome many obstacles in his life and still manages to keep a smile on his face.

Book Review: Clay's story: how a nerd succeeds.
Summary: 3 Stars

As a middleaged singer who finally came out of the shower 5 years, I bought this book thinking it was more of a how to sing.
What I read was a bio about a momma's boy, nerd, with a terrific voice and lovely attitude. With all the sex, drugs&rock&roll...Clay and his book are a refreshing walk in the park.

Book Review: Great Book
Summary: 5 Stars

I think this is such a good book, especially for teens. At first I disliked the way it was written because it wasn't polished and gramatically correct in all places. After reading a little more, I understood that this was exactly the way Clay talks and it made the book even more special. I enjoyed it so much, I bought several more copies and gave them to family and friends and then bought it on the CD to hear Clay read it. Now I am buying the CD's and giving them to family and friends.

Book Review: Great Insight
Summary: 5 Stars

This book gave me another reason to feel root for Clay. He clearly was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, did not have a pampered childhood, etc. However, you can't help but feel proud of his accomplishments after learning of the adversity he had to overcome. What is even more inspiring is that throughout the entire process and his successes, Clay, unlike many other celebrities we see, has managed to keep himself grounded, maintained his values and become an inspiration to many.

Book Review: In His Own Words
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved the fact that Clay does the actual reading of his own book, this seems to make it more personal than having someone else read it. This book is a breath of fresh air, Clay is honest, funny, sad, etc. There were times when I was mad at things that happened to him, laughed at things he did, felt for him when being asked to leave his Grandmother's funeral, but through it all, Clay came out on top, yet remains humble and caring. He is an inspiration for all, whether you are a fan or not, there is no questioning the integrity of this man!
