Book Review: Not a vampire romance - Very different
Summary: 4 Stars
Not a comfortable book, it was a page turner. It was described as the swedish Steven King, which is a little generous, but not too far off the mark. There was a bit of violence, and a lot of blood, but the vampire romance bit is a nisnomer. No romance in the book, per say, it has no chick lit romace, more of a friendship with a vampire.
The book begins and ends with Qskar, a picked on, overweight boy of 12/13. He is hated at school and drags himself through life. He buys a knife, and at the same time, a strange couple move into the flat next door. A series of murders starts a man hunt which seens to swirl around Oskar's life.
There are a few pedophiles in this book, which can turn the stomach. But the action keeps moving so you read over the passages finding that the whole thing fits together. Very exciting if predictable ending.
