Book Reviews of Library Lion

Book Review: A Classic!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book, in the tradition of McCloskey's "Make Way For Ducklings" or Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are," is set to become a classic. The story is sweet and the illustrations are brilliant. Every page can be studied [by old and young alike] and enjoyed: the illustrations are full of humor and drama that enhances the storyline, as is so typical of the talented Kevin Hawkes. I highly recommend this books for any grandparent or parent who enjoys reading--and discovering--with their child. And it goes without saying that this book is a must-have for every library in the country!

Book Review: A Warm & Fuzzy Book
Summary: 5 Stars

I cannot say enough about this children's book. My kids and I never get tired of reading this beautiful story. I still get the chills at the end - every time I read it. It is definitely a feel-good book!!

Book Review: A Wonderful Book!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful story...I am a teacher and my class loves this book! They ask me to read it over and over again...that tells me that this story is A+! I have given it to other teachers and adults and they love this story as well. I am so glad I bought this book...a must have for any person that has children or teaches children!

Book Review: A Wonderful Story
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful story that is sure to be a classic. I think I enjoy reading it to my daughter (who is 4 1/2) as much as she enjoys listening to it. It is a delightful story with an endearing lion who will capture your heart almost immediately.

Book Review: A crowd-pleaser!
Summary: 5 Stars

Amazon recommended me this book quite some time ago, and I'd added it to my three-year-old son's wish list, but we hadn't actually seen it yet. Then I found out that we were going to be seeing my aunt and thought it would be a really great book for her to read for my son as part of a family project. We didn't have time to order, so called a nearby Borders to see if Library Lion was in stock. The Borders employee I talked to on the phone went to check, and when he came back to the phone, the first thing he said was, "This is SO CUTE!" My husband went to get the book, and I was delighted when I read it. The characters, details, illustrations, running themes, and subtle humor are absolutely charming. The lion is a very sympathetic character. The book was better than I'd hoped!
When my aunt arrived, it turned out that she'd just read the book for the first time the day before--her granddaughter had checked it out from the library. After reading the book for my son, she said that she was going to read the book to her kindergarten class right away!
My son loves the parts of the book where the lion roars. It's hilarious to hear a ferocious roar followed by giggles. My aunt loves the references to the no-running-in-the-library rule, and I just love the lion (and the lion statues outside the library). This book is a hit with all ages, and we highly recommend it.
