I purchased this bible because of the ease of understanding the New Living Translation. It has great footnotes that help to apply the passages to events and circumstances in our lives today. The concordance/dictionary is sufficient. There are maps throughout the bible, that really help show the geographic areas of bible events. I especially recommend this bible for those who have a hard time understanding bible language. The New Living Translation is in today's language.Book Review: very adequate helps

There are a number of fine helps that aid you in your understanding of the text itself, and the situations. At the bottom of the pages, it gives synonyms for most words not commonly used. It is filled with maps to help you know where the action is taking place. It has biographical write-ups that key in on the major personalities of the events. Many of the notes are not of the commentary sort, but rather as the name of the Bible indicates, aids for "life application" of the truths. Its wide margins are helpful for writing little notes in. The introductory breakdown of each of the books is helpful. One thing that could be better is the concordance. I first bought this Bible when I first became a Christian ten years ago when this was first brought out.It was in this Bible that I first learnt the great Christian doctrines of the Trinity, justification by faith, salvation by grace etc.
One thing I also like is that it comes in many different translations such the NKJV, the NIV and even the AV.
A good buy for anyone, especially those just starting on the path of Christ.

I bought this bible not knowing what the NLT stood for, it's New Living Translation, it's great, really easy to read. The only thing is, it's really big so not very mobile.
