What a wonderful book for adults and children. The illustrations are marvelous. Pennies for Peace should be discussed in every classroom in the United States.
Book Review: Listen to the Wind Summary: 5 Stars
A wonderfully written version of "Three Cups of Tea" for younger age level. It tells a complete story of one man's goal of building schools and invites children to participate in the program "Pennies for Peace" which will build more schools. The art work is fascinating as well. I purchased a second copy to give to a friend for her "Gramma's book shelf" so the story can get to her grandchildren as well.
Book Review: Listen to the Wind Summary: 5 Stars
If you have read "Three Cups of Tea" and would like to share this story of compassion and friendship on a world-wide scale with young people who may one day live out a life of compassionate caring relationships, "Listen to the Wind" is just the ticket. I gave it to my 6 & 8 year-old grandsons with instructions to read and then donate it to the school libraries. It is a beautiful story about ways we can make friends across the world instead of dropping bombs on them!
Book Review: Listen to the Wind Summary: 5 Stars
Since reading "Three Cups of Tea", Greg Mortenson has been my Hero. When I learned he had written a book for children I just had to share "Listen to the Wind" with my great-nieces and great-nephew. They may be a little young, at 4 and 6, to fully understand what Dr. Greg is doing for children in a far off land, but hopefully their parents will return to this book with them and have meaningful conversations about it. The photographs in the back will make it more than just another story book.
