Book Reviews of Little Dogs: Training Your Pint-Sized CompanionBook Review: Wonderful small dog training book Summary: 5 StarsThis was a wonderful book for training my little Chihuahua. When I picked him up the breader had recommended this, so I purchased it right away. There were a lot of hints and tips that I already new about dog training, but this book was expecially helpful in small dog training. Now that I have two larger dogs and my itty bitty guy, I know that there is a big difference in training the larger and smaller breads and this book was very helpful in the training I gave my little guy.
Book Review: New Small Dog Owners This Book is Great Summary: 5 StarsI bought this book while waiting on obtaining a small breed puppy. This is a great book, it was probably my favorite small dog book I have read yet. I had never had a small dog before and the information in this book was very valuable to someone as inexperienced as I was. It has step by step training techniques, and is filled with fun anecdotes. The training is positive, upbeat and covers potty training, to basic obedience and even fun things to do with your well trained small dog. The only thing I can fault it on is that it does not include clicker training.
This is a very fun and easy read, full of information, and inexpensive and full of pictures to boot!
Book Review: Little Dogs is BIG on Fun and Information for ALL Dog Owners! Summary: 5 StarsLittle Dogs by Deborah Wood took me by great surprise. I purchased the book expecting entertainment with some basic tips, but what I received was exciting, tangible tips and exercises to help me bond and understand my new puppy. I learned A LOT about what makes her the way she is and different things she is communicating to me and not just doing for no reason or because she doesn't know any better! I gained so much patience and confidence in working with her thanks to this book. We now grow together and I am able to allow her to teach me things about myself, too. The book is so well written and the layout of short chapters filled to the brim with tips and facts, lets me read an entire section and set it down to work and play with my puppy. All of the information is well backed up by facts and explains not just WHAT to do, but WHY. It even goes as far as telling you WHY NOT to do other things. It's not all work, either! It's a great read on its own and even my husband has finished it off. We find ourselves quoting the book as reminders or help in explaining certain behaviors our puppy exhibits. This book is just what we needed and we will be keeping it in arm's reach for a long time! Highly recommended for owners of all breeds and sizes of dogs!
Book Review: The Best! Summary: 5 StarsGod honest truth, I never saw Amy Tan's praise for this book until it reached my hands. And I have to say, she's right. From the poo eating, to the "armpit piranah's", to the gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous cover! Yes... In truth the cover lured me, and thankfully the contents have proven even more worthy. Especially love all the tricks and tips on flying with your precious baby, and training the little scroundrels. Cheers!
Book Review: Not necessary Summary: 2 StarsI don't really think that the pint-sized dog warranteed a book of its own. I cannot see that the training is any different from the others I have read. It's a fine book and probably ok if you are not going to buy any other. I expected a whole range of issues I hadn't thought of that effect small dogs - there really aren't any!
