This has to be the most in-depth account of the famous Vanderbilt custody case I've ever read. I think the entire court transcript of every witness is in there, with thorough backgrounds of all the characters involved. I did find the first part of the book detailing life BEFORE the trial as the most interesting though. it gives you an excellent insight into the lives of the super-rich and priveliged upper class of American society in the early 1900s. The astounding Vanderbilt wealth, the palatial homes, the servants, the parties, and also the drinking and unhappiness that seemed to blight so many of these wealthy people.A fascinating insight into a lifestyle and a society that will never be seen again.
