Book Review: So Cute
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fun short book, with rhyming! My daughter who is two asks for it by name, and even requested red pajamas!

Book Review: All my kids love this book
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a four year old and twin 2 year old boys and they all love this book. The two year olds ask to read it again and again (I got it from the library and now have to buy it because they miss the book so much now that I've returned it!). I had actually worried that they might be scared by the picture where the baby llama is crying for his mama, but they didn't find it scary, and we actually used the book to talk about how they shouldn't be scared - the final message in the book is really important for all kids to understand - that even if mommy isn't in the room, mommy is close by and loves you. I think it's a great book...

Book Review: Great "Llama drama"
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw this book about a year ago in a store while on vacation, but had no kids to buy for at the time. I thought it was so cute, and remembered it a few months later when the next baby in the family was born. The baby (now 18 months) LOVES it, as do the older kids in the family. As far as people being concerned over abandonment fears, sometimes it is good for kids to learn that their drink of water (which is what the baby llama originally wants, and calls to Mama for) has to wait because Mama is busy doing dishes. Most people consider this normal- and will not stop doing dishes to get a kid a drink. The Mama is not ignoring her child who is wailing in fear, she origiannly tells him to wait, and he, as children often do, misinterpret the wait as being alone. She rushes to him when he freaks, and explained the situation. Good idea- so if it happens again, he knows that Mama sometimes takes a few minutes to get to him if the need (such as for water from a kid put to bed) isn't urgent. It's not abusive, or abandonment- it's a great teaching tool that kids sometimes need to wait for adults, and that adults are not at their beck and call for non-urgent matter, like Mama is when he wails for Mama.

Book Review: I dissagree with the message of this book
Summary: 1 Stars

I think that this book shows how not to be a loving mom. The ideas presented thought this book are very parent task oriented and do not show the importance of spending time with your child and not just leaving them alone while you get your own "stuff" done. Children need to be held, loved, carried, nursed, comforted, and their needs meet. If you are not around your child how can you possibly do these things.

Book Review: this book teaches messed-up values
Summary: 1 Stars

This was a horrible book. The Mama Llama abandons her terrified child to go do the dishes and stays gone while he continues to cry, escalating to screaming and wondering if his mom is gone entirely. I feel this is a book written by parents who use the cry-it-out (or, as my husband calls it, cry it in) method of getting their kids to sleep, and is designed to convince kids that it's okay for their parents to abandon them when they are distraught. A word for Mama Llama- rock or nurse your llama llama red pajama to sleep, and then there will be plenty of time for dishes.
