Book Review: Amazing Country and the perfect guide

I travelled in Mongolia last summer and referred to this book (edition 5, 2008) constantly for information. I visited some pretty remote areas of the countryside and most were listed in the book, always with tips on things to see, places to go and transportation options. There's a lot of in depth coverage places not covered in other guides. It's spot on with all of Mongolia's cultural quirks and very helpful with tips on how to interact with Mongolians.
The places recommended in the book seemed to be some of the more stable options (as stable as things can be in a country that has a three month tourist season). The maps were pretty accurate, which helps because its impossible to find town maps outside the capital. And there were some good quirky recommendations, like how to volunteer, or stay in a ger district (which I tried and enjoyed). It seemed to be geared towards the budget traveller. There are lots of guesthouses and budget hotels listed and explained in detail. It also mentions the top end but with less detail compared to the budge places. It does a great job of navigating you around Ulaanbaatar, which is not that easy because many buildings can be hard to find.
Also I liked that it had so many GPS points, it would be impossible to find some places without the coordinates. Already planning my next trip!
