Book Review: A Long Ride, Worth Every Mile

Like many other reviewers here, I don't normally enjoy Westerns, with the exception of this one. I have read others, before and since, and none even got within rifle range of this great novel, one of my 2 alltime favorite books. I don't know how many times I've read it cover to cover, since I discovered it in a book-making factory in the late '80s. That edition did not even include the info from the book jacket, so I really embarked on that long journey with no clue what lay ahead. What a trip it was, and what a cast McMurtry assembled. Don't even bother with the prequels--they're wretched. This, plus "Last Picture Show," are McMurtry's 2 books worth reading and remembering forever.
