Book Reviews of Lose Your Mummy TummyBook Review: Mummy Tummy to the Rescue! Summary: 5 Stars
After my second C-Section I developed diastasis but after the third C-Section it was very noticeable and all the running and aerobics I did didn't help me to develop my 6-pack abs again. I went to 2 doctors and they never once discussed exercises that may help or to stop the "crunches" I was doing which was making the stomach bulge worse. Both doctors suggested a "tummy tuck" which wasn't an option for me as I like to work out and they didn't recommend working out with that surgery - or picking up the baby for a time afterwards. In desperation I surfed the internet for any information and ran across Julie Tupler's book and suggestions so I bought it. In the year that I re-vamped my workout, the buldge is disappearing and muscle definition is reappearing! I recommend this book to anyone who has this problem. Age and time aren't a factor as to when you can start this program as I didn't start doing these expercises until my last child was 4 and I'm an "older" mother of 45!

Not what I was expecting; read excerpts from the book before you buy it. Make sure it's what YOU are expecting.
Book Review: Not Practical Summary: 2 Stars
As a new mom, I am sleep deprived and time deprived. I want a book with clear directions, illustrations (photos are better), and a concise message. This was not that. Perhaps the DVD offered on the author's website would be a better choice, but I didn't want to spend the $30 or so for the chance. If you have the time, and are not keen on color photos/illustrations, and can make sense of her written instruction, maybe this would be ok.
Book Review: Not Very Practical Summary: 1 Stars
While the concept of this book makes sense, application in the life of a mother doesn't. I have four children and can't possibly retrain myself to think only in terms of my stomach. Basically the author wants you to think about how you sit, stand, carry your baby, cough, sneeze, lie down, get up and that's on top of the daily excercise routine. As an added bonus, she tells you that one jacknife can undo weeks of work! I know that at 3 am if one of my children starts crying, I don't stop to think about how to properly get out of bed first. I'm just trying to quiet my child before all of the others are awake too. That's too much of a time investment for me to make just to mess it up with one mistake.
Book Review: Not for beginners Summary: 2 Stars
The author appears to be educated on the subject, however as I am someone with no yoga or pilates experience it was too hard for me to follow & understand the steps she's recommending. This book definitely needs a DVD to go along with it. It was too hard to hold the book, read step 1, understand step 1 and then do it to move onto step 2. If you are well trained in yoga/pilates then you might have an easier time with it, however I think this book would benefit ten-fold if it came with a DVD.
