Book Reviews of Lost Light

Book Review: Nice One, Mike
Summary: 4 Stars

Yet another thoroughly enjoyable novel featuring the now retired detective Harry Bosch. Harry can't leave things alone so off we go into a well-paced, fun to read adventure. If you like detective novels with doses of humor, sex, action, twists, turns and guns, I've no doubt you will enjoy this book. I recommend, however, that you start with the earlier books so you can get a feel for how smart and tough HB is.

Connelly's writing style makes these novels so very, very good. He drives the plot smoothly, with lots of sudden turns and plenty of romance that peaks a reader's interest. My wife read it between Danielle Steele books and she enjoyed it as well.

Harry's retirement made me feel older than i am was the only downside. I hope he goes back to work, somewhere or develops his private eye business.

Book Review: Nobody does it better
Summary: 5 Stars

"Nobody does it better" is a phrase that should be branded on all of Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch books. With each one Harry grows as his character deepens. After awhile you start to look at him as a friend and you find yourself hoping that there are lots of cops out there just like him. Harry will not be derailed in his pursuit of the truth.

You owe it to yourself to buy this book. I get them all in hardcover because I want them to wear well when I pass them around to my friends before they end up in my library.

I'm a writer myself and every Harry Bosch novel is not just an incredibly fun read, but is a textbook on the right way to plot a book while maintaining exacting verisimilitude. If you choose to check out my own book The Towers Of Greed please get it from Seller Whitebear as that is me.

Book Review: One of his best
Summary: 5 Stars

This book for me was an excellent example of Michael Connelly's work. I had just discovered him for myself recently, reading first "The Lincoln Lawyer", and then "The Closers", "The Poet" and then this one, after which I read "The Narrows". But this one revealed Harry Bosch as a man of deep-seated feeling and sensitivity. I think if someone wanted to try Michael Connelly then this is the one to start with. But in fact all the books I've read thus far have been suberb.
