Book Review: BUYER BEWARE!!!

I gave this glorified fanzine 2 stars because I didn't absolutely hate it. I did think the explanation of Vincent's origins, although not completely original, was interesting. I'm not accusing the author of plaigerism, just that I read a similar story 20 years ago. But to refer to this as a "book" is very misleading; indeed, I felt mislead by the description, Amazon.com's listing, and even the author's website. Thanks to Lulu, the author was able to self-publish her work as a "regular" book, rather than the format expected of a fanzine. It's not the worst fanzine I've ever read (that would have to be the one where Vincent has a tail!), but it is by no means anywhere near the best. The price I paid for the paperback copy of "book" is also comparable to what I paid for most 'zines 20 years ago. Do pay attention to all the 1-star reviews...all of the points made are valid and I agree with all of them. If you are still interested, please go to the author's website and read it free. It is NOT worth the price. When I see a book with such disparity in the reviews, I almost always buy the work and make up my own mind; usually, I will like the book, or at least fall somewhere in the middle. Not this time.
