Book Reviews of Love, LucyBook Review: Lucy the Lady with no "splan'n to do" Summary: 5 Stars
I truly enjoyed this book, as did my 88 year old grandmother and 66 year old aunt. Lucy has always been like a favorite family member. This book makes you feel like she is speaking in her own words and we are so glad her family decided to publish it. Contrasted againsted The Book by Desi Arnez, made it even more interesting. This book gave personal insight to the struggles Lucy faced in her childhood, an endurance driven by the need to be loved, and her strong work ethic. Far less juicy and business detail oriented than The Book, it mirrors the same respect and love Lucy and Desi shared even after they divorced. Lucy was a true lady. It did not take much reading between the lines to see she was mindful of Desi's feelings and privacy while telling her story.
Book Review: Lucy's Best Summary: 5 Stars
Revealing her multi-talents, always sure of herself and a firm believer that she knew she would make it as an actress, or better still a comedian. Lucy brought up in circumstances that caused her to be a responsible adult before her time helped her in her career. Telling true facts about her life kept me on the edge of my seat and in suspense of what would happen next. I give this book a 5 star rating.
Book Review: Mom of Sav Summary: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful book. I hated for it to end. You should read this and A Book, by Desi Arnaz. I was captivated.
Book Review: Much better than the TV movie! Summary: 5 Stars
I saw the TV movie "Lucy" on CBS and loved it. When I found this book, I figured it would be like the movie, so I bought it. It is NOTHING like the movie! The movie barely tells you 1/4 of the stuff Lucy tells you in her book. Plus, the movie shows her being in a play in her hometown before she went into modeling. In the book, she develops rheumatoid arthritis and is sent home for a while, heals, and then does the play. I give the book 5/5 and the movie 4.5/5.
Book Review: My favorite Actress, Speaking out! Summary: 5 Stars
Lucille Ball is my favorite Actress and my all-time hero. I read this book, only because she is my hero, but I like mystery books. Lucille Ball has a wonderful sense of humor, as you already know, and she interwinds it in her book. This book has pictures of her and her family, tells about her life, and has some secrets inside that were never told. If you are a Lucy fan, like me, you will not want to pass up the opporunity of reading this book. Enjoy, her life! Sometimes it is sad to read, but you will pull through it and see the REAL Lucille Ball.
