Book Reviews of Love Walked InBook Review: Good, Though Flawed Summary: 4 Stars
I enjoyed this book because it was engrossing and well written. I thought Cornelia was a little too quirky - annoying sometimes - and things wrapped up too neatly in the end. I didn't think a lot of it was very realistic. All in all, I liked it, though, mostly because of de los Santos' word choice and description.
Book Review: Great fun and good writing Summary: 5 Stars
At first I thought this was "chick lit" when my friend gave it to me, and almost didn't read it. (O.K., I'm a bit of an intellectual snob.) But it's not. It's well written and fun and clever and full of love. I highly recommend it.
Book Review: Great writing walked out Summary: 3 Stars
I read many reviews before I purchased this book and thought maybe the bad reviews were wrong. This book is so confusing at the beginning, and goes from one movie star to the other. The story of Claire was the only one that interested me. I felt the death of Claire's father was awful the way he really had no part of the story. No one cared that he died. This book is not well written and makes the reader work way too hard for a story that is not that great. It is great for the Hollywood elitist. I read at least two or three books a week and the only reason I give this 3 stars, is for the story of Claire. I also liked that the main character Cornelia's parent are normal and still married and in love. There are too many wonderful books out there to waste your time on this one. This reader walked out.
Book Review: I don't get why people like this so much. Summary: 2 Stars
I ordered this book along with Belong to Me. I usually read nonfiction books but thought I would give a fiction book a try and this one had good ratings and the second installment was only $5. The story line was alright. Nothing exciting. What really irritated me was the way de los Santos writes. She pretty much babbles on and on about useless nonsense and she knows it because her main character will stop herself when she realizes she is babbling. This book frustrated me to no end which has never happened to me before. I had a hard time finishing it because it seemed like she just couldn't get to the point. I donated the second installment of this book before I even opened it. This type of writing probably appeals more to a dreamer type personality opposed to a fact seeking mind which is why I should probably stick to nonfiction books.
Book Review: I hate this book! Summary: 2 Stars
I wanted to like this book so badly...I read the first 120 pages or so, and couldn't stop reading, but I soon became disgusted. The story is so far-fetched that its predictable, if that makes any sense. Every time I thought to myself: "There's no way something ridiculous like that is going to happen!" it did...I wish that I had the ability to stop reading a book, but I just can't. I have about 70 pages left, and I'm hoping that I will be pleasantly surprised, but I won't count on that. I do think, however, that this would translate better to the silver screen. It seems that is already in the works.
