Local book club selection. Fast read and everyone enjoyed it. Some thought the author tried a little too hard with the comedy and overused the movie and book references. Personally, I thought the author was telling the story the way she would sit down and tell it to a friend over a cup of coffee. Endearing characters and touching story. We all agreed it would make a good movie. Very nice first novel for this author. Hope she writes more!Book Review: Great book!

I flew through this book. I was interested, and sympathetic to all the characters. It was somewhat predictable, had too much emphasis on old movie storylines and metaphors, but that was EASILY forgiven for author's moving, clear and descriptive writing style. I loved the way it went back and forth between the girl and woman's point of view...and that it really felt the main character was speaking directly to us. Finally. I finally found a new author that I really like. The characters are wittty and wise and lots of fun to get to know. There is a bit of language. Come on. Get over it. Skip over it. Whatever. Just don't get hung up and miss a really unique read because of a few "bad words". Keep up the great work, Marisa.
