Book Review: A Must for any Crystal Lover!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a Crystal Healer and have always found this book to be extremely helpful and recommend it to any true crystal lover. You must remember when reading that we all are unique and different and so is each individual crystal. Melody has tried to address the overall meaning of each stone which is very helpful in confirming your own intuition and to help those that don't yet trust their instincts when they feel they need some Gem Healing! Wonderfully done Melody! Blessings to you.

Book Review: Text from the Sixties Beautiful People genre
Summary: 2 Stars

Touchy-feely language, and lots and lots of it, tends to bury the valid insights of the basic data. Gifts from the earth most definitely have power, but I have found that not all people react to the same stone in the same way. I prefer to find my own way rather than wade through the gushing affirmations. The author seems to pick almost at random meanings to be assigned to the minerals and stones, except for the obvious attributes long assigned to pink quartz, rock quartz, elestial crystals, etc. If this is a legitimate field of inquiry (i.e. the study of rocks and how they affect us) then serious and strenuous research is what we need, not ladies running around in long dresses and dreaming up "pearls of wisdom". The earth is infinitely complex and needs -- and deserves -- a more dignified approach. I actually tossed this one out, when usually I give my unwanted books to the Library. Not a good book to give you real insight into the field.

Book Review: Not a Book about Crystals, But About Positive Thought Only
Summary: 1 Stars

This book is not recommended as far as the attributes of crystals, and does a dis-service. If you will read Melody's books, you'll understand why there are so many vaiables attached to any one crystal (the meanings go on and on and on). It's because Melody believes in positive thought and believes that by positive thought, everything good will occur and nothing bad will happen, which is okay but there must be a factual element involved too. This is a book about positive thought and not crystals. It was written by someone without a degree in mineralogy or crystology, and she could have used pebbles outside to achieve the purpose that she is promoting.

Concerning the book, the scientific information is somewhat accurate because this information is from R. Jackson or other geological texts. Melody has no degree at all in mineralogy and only believes in one thing. She could have used examples of refrigerators instead of crystals, it really makes no difference. It is not truth, and please be a bit discerning as to what is in this book. It is not truth by even the far sense of the word.

Book Review: Why not say every stone can do everything?
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this book because so many reviews said this was the bible. But I have to disagree.

It is true that probably every stone you could think of is mentioned. However, Ms. Jackson is so indiscriminative of the attributes she gives each stone that they all appear to do everything. For example "Phenacite" can "stimulate the 3rd eye" (but she says that of most of the stones)"facilitates deep meditation", "promoting an inner knowing" "bring the way of love" "the way of heavenly being into physical reality" "excellent stone for healing" (yep - they all are) "clearing" (yep they all are) "cleansing" etc. ... And she goes on for three more paragrpahs listing that it does just about everything.

Probably the best way to know what a stone does is to clear your connection to the universe, ask, and listen to your answer. But if you want a book about it, you may want to look at ones that are a little more discerning.

Book Review: The first COMPLETE reference for crystals and minerals
Summary: 5 Stars

I found this book in 1995, and my copy is now a well-thumbed book with notes in the margins. I look upon it as the crystal healer's Bible. I have had it for almost ten years now, and it is still the most up-to-date reference I can find. I would love to see yet another updated edition from Melody. A must for anyone who is interested in the healing power of crystals and minerals.
