Book Review: Brilliant! But...

I absolutely adore Yun Kouga as a manga artist... Earthian was just fabulous, although the art was slightly dated. Here we see Kouga's new and improved art style, which is nothing short of gorgeous!
Loveless is a beautiful manga it has to be said. I bought it simply for the cover (and happen to love the storyline). Ritsuka is the main character, and it seems his life isn't all that normal. Not only is he not the "real" Ritsuka but his older brother was murdered. Naturally, life for Ritsuka, is hard.
Things start to look up for him when he meets an old friend of his brother's and they quickly become quite close too.
I really love this manga, though I can't deny there are a couple of flaws in it. Firstly, it's a little confusing. Characters appear to lose their cat ears (which they all have) only when they lose their "innocence" but it's never really explained here. Also this is a yaoi. Now I have no problem with yaoi manga at all, in fact I love it, but the main character is a twelve year old! Though there is nothing explicit as of yet (and perhaps there never will be?)
Still if the thought of a yaoi involving a kid doesn't put you off then by all means buy it because it IS a very good manga and Ristuka is nothing short of adorable!
