Book Review: "meh"
Summary: 3 Stars
The VERY BEST THING about this book was that Ward FINALLY got rid of all of the Mr. X crap. I was so relieved that there were few mentions of lessers and no chapters/scenes between the lessers. To me, that has always been the weakest aspect of this series and I loathe the lesser scenes. Was glad those were gone!
Unfortunately, that's about the best thing I can say about the book.
I could never form a picture in my head of Jane. She lacked substance and I agree with other reviewers who felt that Cormia and that situation might have been a more interesting route to go with V. While the hard core BDSM didn't bother me in and of itself, I felt it was very poorly done and made me feel a little grossed out because of the awkwardness of the writing. Jane's entire attraction to V seemed sexually based...and V deserved better than that.
The subplots were ok. It was great to see lots of Z and Bella and Phury. I'd have liked to see more of Beth and Mary, too. They were basically absent from these books. JM and his buddies got way too much attention. The conversations between JM, Blay, and Quinn are cringeworthy...and plentiful.
The ending of this book was such a letdown. What ends up happening to Jane was stupid...I mean just stupid. Maybe it will serve some greater purpose in a later book?? I don't know...but as of right now I'm disgusted by it.
