Book Reviews of Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life

Book Review: A true gift from God
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a real life changer - ok, so you've heard that phrase on just about every review of every inpirational book ever written - stock phrase? Cliche? Not this time! Byron Katie is a true gift from God. Her work will bring you a peace and calmness that you never knew existed. She will make you laugh and cry, discover yourself and more importantly, help you see how simple it is to never lose yourself again. The book is wonderful - the CD is even better! You get to hear Byron Katie in action putting "The work" to use on every problem you could ever imagine. Using her four questions, she simply dissolves all negativity, taking us on a journey from wrong thinking to reality time after time until we see how ridiculous our perceived troubles really are! This is a spiritual masterpiece that may never be surpassed as after you have experienced "The work" everything becomes perfect, just as it is.

Book Review: One of those must-have titles.
Summary: 5 Stars

As with all good advice, the simple message of this book is its power. By repeating all the different ways of using her method, Katie almost hypnotises you with the Work. Before you know it, you are following the principles without thinking, and noticing powerful changes in your general outlook, your thought processes and your life generally.

Book Review: Extremely disappointed by this book
Summary: 1 Stars

When I read the reviews for this book I thought that the book may be worth having, but it was a mistake to have purchased this book. I spent years with a therapist getting over one of the most traumatic experiences in my life and if I believed what this author had said, I would be right back to square one. I became extremely angry whilst reading what she had encouraged a woman who had been in practically the same position as me, to say. To say I disagree with her method of madness is the understatement of the century. I would advise strongly that you get this book from the library first and then decide whether to buy it. Some people act very irresponsibly when giving advice and in my opinion Byron Katie has acted irresponsibly. I just thank God she wasnt my therapist, I doubt I would have made it through the trauma.

Book Review: Very disapointing
Summary: 1 Stars

Bought this book based on the high reviews it got. The main point of the book is that there is no need for suffering. It is all down to how you perceived events, just change how you think about things and all will be well. Just follow the dialogues and everyone in it has an aha moment at the end. Byron Katie turns all the participants thoughts back to themselves, for example you are not angry about what someone did to you but you are angry at yourself. Read the dialogue concerning childhood trauma and the conclusion drawn at the end for the person involved was frankly appalling. I would not recommend this book.

Book Review: Big mistake
Summary: 1 Stars

Didnt do it for me. Now there is a chance it may work for other people. It does help to step back and think again, to add a bit more of inner searching and to ask self questions. But already a zillion books out there that do the same and more and in a more amusing, elocuent, fun, emotional way.
