Book Reviews of Lucinda's Secret (Spiderwick Chronicles, Book 3)

Book Review: Danger Is All Around, Watch Your Back
Summary: 5 Stars

When the Grace children realize that Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You is leaving their family in danger, they decide to consult their Aunt Lucinda in the matter of what should be done with the book. The problem, is that Aunt Lucinda is locked away in an asylum, where she is being held under the false pretense that she is crazy, when she is quite the opposite. Luckily, the three children are able to convince their mother to bring them to Aunt Lucinda for a visit, where they hope to ask her all about Arthur Spiderwick and The Field Guide. However, when you've got an angry house brownie named Thimbletack, who has recently transmogrified into a nasty boggart who plays tricks on Jared, a task as easy as that may be quite difficult.

Out of all of the SPIDERWICK books I have read thus far, LUCINDA'S SECRET has become one of my favorites, as it is filled with faeries of all different shapes and sizes, and the dialogue between the Grace children and Aunt Lucinda is quite enjoyable. Aunt Lucinda is an interesting character - if not a bit eccentric - who has quite an amazing story to tell, that will enchant readers - as it enchanted the Grace children. As with the previous books in the series, LUCINDA'S SECRET is filled with gorgeous illustrations that truly bring the story to life, and a wonderful tale that must be told. A delightful addition to the series that will enchant all those who believe.

Book Review: Interesting
Summary: 4 Stars

This book of the series was an interesting one. It didn't include much action though. Anyway, it was a good installment in the Spiderwick Chronicles. It could have been better.

Book Review: Great Aunt Blanche
Summary: 5 Stars

As I said when I reviewed the first of this series, everyone should have a Great Aunt Blanche. My own was extremely eccentric, but the children's Great Aunt Lucinda is rather dear.

In this volume, the children have already learned what they're up against and to what extent their invisible neighbors will go to obtain the book their great grand uncle compiled. More worried about what they don't know than what they do, they decide to check out their great aunt to find out what she knows.

By introducing this lady, the authors have developed the history of the book, the neighborhood and the fight for control. It becomes a more rounded story that sets the children firmly on a family tree. For younger children, this may be a good time to introduce family relationships. Just how are people related to one another and what does it mean in terms of themselves and others?

Again, a nice book to add to a child's own library, a good addition for a public reading room in a library with a volunteer reader.

Another delightful trip into the mysteries of the Spiderwick chronicals.

Book Review: Lucindas Secret Spider Wick Chronicles Book 3
Summary: 4 Stars

I love this book i think this is the best one in the Spider Wick series. I think you should read this book because it is adventures and exiting they fight creatures alot and there are faries in this book. This book is prettty easy to read it is not to long and there are pictures in this book. This book even made me read more and read longer books. The other Spider Wick books are good to read all of them there are only five books in the series the last book is the longest.I think u should read this book maybe the whole series it is the best!

Book Review: Another great installment
Summary: 4 Stars

In Lucinda's Secret we find the Grace children nursing a griffen back to health in the barn, Jared still suffering from the pranks of the house Brownie, and continued questions and secrets surrounding Uncle Arthur and the faerie world. They decide to visit their Aunt Lucinda in the sanitarium to see if she can provide any answers to these questions. She is able to give them a glimpse into the disappearance of her father, their Uncle Arthur. This leads them on another magical adventure in the area surrounding the Spiderwick Estate as they follow a map that could only have been made by Arthur himself.

This is anoher fun installment in the Spiderwick series. The Grace children continue to rely on each other and use their clever wits to get them out of problem situations as they encounter magical creatures. Some of the other fantasy series out there have a bit more depth to them, but this is a charming series with a lot of fun.
