Book Review: Thorough but so is the Pentax manual

The Pentax K20D is an amazing piece of kit. It pays to read and reread the manual supplied by the manufacturers to get a feel for how it all hangs together. What I wanted from another guide was a bit of a more hands-on approach about pros and cons, easy step-by-step explanations and suggestions for experimentation, even possible projects. There is some of this but not £9-49 pence worth in my opinion.
One of the things I bought the camera for in the first place is its HDR - High Dynamic Range - capabilities having seen mouthwatering examples on Flickr (great site). There is no mention of this major capability of the K20D in this book and there really should have been a chapter for this subject alone.
If you are thinking of buying the K20D (and you should seriously consider it if you are not an absolute beginner and maybe even then) then the accompanying manual does a good job. For more adventurous use go to the many web sites available.
