Jordan Weston had come home to Magnolia, South Carolina after a fourteen-year absence. She didn't have a very happy childhood because her mother had never really wanted her, and always had a reason to take off at a moments notice. She was a young mother, and blamed her child for her predicament. Her father was out of the picture, so that left her grandmother to raise her, and while she loved her grandmother more than any child could love a parent, it didn't change her parent's actions. Now that her grandmother had passed, and left her the family historic home, she just wanted to fix it up, sell it, and resume her life in New York. Before she could do that, repairs had to be made, and the only one capable of doing that job was Sam Tanner. Jordan didn't know him well in fact the closest they had ever gotten was in high school when he gave her the best kiss of her life.
Sam remembered Jordan very well, and the kiss they shared in high school. He had been enamored with her, but forced her to stay away from him because he was no good for her back then. He most definitely wanted to be around her now though. Sam decided to take the repair job, and do all the work himself so that he could be near Jordan. He couldn't figure her out. He knew that she was attracted to him, and wanted him, but would not admit it. He thought he was making progress when she agreed to have dinner with him, but just when she started to loosen up, she froze up, and closed herself off. He enlisted the town to help him out. When she decided to take over the town theater company, he hoped everyone would help him win her over. Sam was determined to win her heart, and convince her that Magnolia was the place for them to begin a life together.
Jordan is a very likeable heroine, but was jaded when it came to love. She had a very dysfunctional family, and had no idea what it was like to be in a loving relationship. Sam is what every woman hopes for fierce, strong and loving. Jordan and Sam are a wonderful couple with a lot of potential. This is an earlier book from this author, and while good doesn't compare with the quality she puts out now.
