Book Reviews of Making Children Mind without Losing Yours

Book Review: BEST BOOK ON RAISING KIDS
Summary: 5 Stars

I ONLY WISH I HAD HAD THIS BOOK WHEN I WAS RAISING MY OWN CHILDREN. I READ THIS BOOK AND BAUGHT ONE FOR EACH OF MY CHILDREN. THEY TOO THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEST BOOK THEY HAD READ. I RECENTLY BAUGHT IT FOR A FRIEND WHO WAS HAVING GREAT DIFFICULTY WITH HER TWO OLDER KIDS, AND SHE TOO FOUND IT TO BE VERY HELPFUL. LIFE IS REALITY, WHY NOT HELP YOUR CHILDREN UNDERSTAND THAT FROM THE BEGINNING.

Book Review: Ugh! Not my Cup of Tea
Summary: 1 Stars

Call it buyer negligence if you choose but for some reason, I really thought this book would give tried and true methods to help me with my child. Instead, I get bible passages and references back to the previous bible quotation. I don't need bible thumping. I was looking for advice.

Book Review: This book affirmed my instincts about parenting
Summary: 5 Stars

My instincts for raising my 2 1/2 year old son have always been to apply loving discipline. However in moments of doubt I would take on an authoritarian approach. As a result, I was completely inconsistent. Those inconsistencies were obvious to my son and he responded accordingly. I now feel informed and affirmed about how to guide my son in learning to accept the realities of life. My son's behavior immediately changed once I consistently applied the principals discussed in this book.

Book Review: ONe of the best books on Parenting
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book years ago when my girls were small. Now I have bought it for my daughter and some other friends with small children.
The book is about choices. We all make choices and learning there are consequences for our choices. Kevin is a great writing and very easy to read. He has a great sense of humor.

Book Review: Preachy and Too Simplistic
Summary: 3 Stars

The overall strategies in this book have some clout, but the overwhelming religious preaching is a nuisance at best. Leman assumes everyone is religious and everyone who is religious is Christian. Constantly quoting the New Testament as if it were a Christian Bible class is a huge turn off in this book. Not to mention his blanket approval of spanking as long as you say you love them afterwards....
I like many of his approaches but his way is only one way and I found he speaks as the ultimate authority leaving very little room for the many children that are not "cured" by his theories.
I found he speaks much more about God than he did about sibling rivalry a huge issue in many homes, and probably expects you to buy his book specifically about that.
