Book Reviews of Making FacesBook Review: Looks for everyone. Summary: 5 StarsThis book is amazing, in short. It has a wide variety of looks, from simple looks for girls, to the exotic. It has amazing examples of make overs, turning girls into boys, boys into girls and making Martha Stewart look like Veronica Lake! It has great step by step illustrations and easy to understand language. I've used this book to create looks on myself and on models.
Book Review: The Best Book on Makeup Out There Summary: 5 StarsI love makeup but most books and magazines make it seem like you need a ton of product and tools to achieve a nice look. This book was fabulous. It was easy to use and understand and I actually was able to create a look that looked great on me not just on some already gorgeous model.
Book Review: Who do you want to look like? Summary: 5 StarsApparently, if you get good enough at this, you could make anyone look like anyone else! Now, you too can look like Angelina Jolie! You can make your friends up to look like Julia Roberts! Heck, you can even make Michael Jackson human again...just by following the tips in this book!
Apart from its genius, this manual has the added bonus of doubling as an art book. The pictures are simply luxurious! I sometimes use it as a coffee table book. It's a must for any beauty enthusiast.
Book Review: A Beautiful Book Summary: 5 StarsThis is a truly beautiful book. I'd say that it is a great buy for makeup junkies as well as people who are looking to pick up basic application skills. It's full of ideas, some simple and pretty, others elaborate and "out there". The photography is great, too. Kevyn Aucoin will always be my favorite makeup artist of all time.
Book Review: A charming surprise Summary: 5 StarsI recently picked up a charming, wonderfully well written makeup book called Making Faces. The book is extremely well laid out with both the looks and exactly how this artist created them.
The instructions are simple and easy to understand.
Most of all I like his philosophy on beauty. He believes that there is no one set of beauty rules, just as there is no "right"way to look or apply makeup. He believes in experimenting and finding your own beauty. His guidelines are simply a starting point while you discover a look that fits you.
I highly recommend that you read this and pass it on to anyone you know who needs to feel beautiful, confident and sexy.
