Book Reviews of Making Money (Discworld)Book Review: .....Short changed?.... Summary: 2 Stars Having read virtually all of Terry Pratchett's brilliant series, I was left with a slight sense of tiredness in this book - almost as if he was in neutral when he wrote it. The essential snap and crackle in the narrative was'nt quite all there, a fraction lack lustre.
After so many years of unqualified success, it perhaps should come as no surprise that a book would come along that "did'nt quite make it"; pehaps it was the way that so many of the old favourite characters were wheeled out for a brief inspection, and dismissed, and it free-wheeled along, lacking edge.
Book Review: Very dissapointing Summary: 1 StarsThe leftover Ideas from Going Postal, padded out into a short, predictable book of sorts
Your Fans deserv better than this Mr. Pratchett
Book Review: I'll always love Pterry BUT... Summary: 3 Stars...why have you started writing in chapters? Where is the fire and sparkle? Where have my beloved Witches gone?
Book Review: Is Pratchett wearing thin? Summary: 4 StarsA new instalment for Terry's Discworld and one that brings back to the fore the hero of Going Postal. Whilst taking the mick out of the worlds banking systems (something that I happily know little about) it did make this novel something of a surprise for me and to be honest I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this tale or not.
Luckily for me I did but Im really in the mood for more tales of the Watch or perhaps even revisiting the theatre where De Worde has to make them profitable (or launch Televisions to the citizens of Ankh Morpork.) Its fun and will, no matter what is written by reviewers, be an instant hit with Terry's fans, although I am starting to wonder exactly how many more books Terry has in him. As I've said it is entertaining and will keep old and young readers alike chuckling along together.
Book Review: Making Money Summary: 3 StarsPratchett always has something relevant and topical to say. Although I think that this book is below par on the humour front, I do appreciate his satirisation of our monetary systems. The predictive device that shows the extreme consequences of even small movements of money is a stroke of genius. Moist is a becoming an increasingly complex character and I look forward to his next journey into the surreal. I miss Vimes and Vetenari, the Witches and the Watch and would enjoy more of them sometime in the near future. Sigh.
