Book Reviews of Maniac MageeBook Review: A Great book for people to read Summary: 5 Stars
Maniac Magee taught me that even though we are different thatn others, we are still a big family. Maniac Magee is a boy who's parents died when he was a todd. He then stayed with his aunt and uncle who likes things of their own. Two tv's,two bathrooms and evn if they can, two Maniac. Maniac is really not Maniac. His real name is Jeffery Lionel Magee. He ran from Holidaysburg. He ran almost about two hundred miles and landed in Two Mills. There, East and West were seperated by blacks and whites. West for the White and East for the Black. They don't want to live together but why???Nobody crossed the lines between them. The blacks are not allowed to cross over to the white and the same for the White. But Maniac didn't know this because he was new here and he crossed the line. There he met Amanda Beale and Mars Bars the baddest, biggest kid in the East end. He is kinda of a bully. How the name Maniac got stuck to Jeffery is because he ran so fast than any other living creatures there is. people call him that maniac kid and that is how he got Maniac Magee as his name. I can't wait for Jerry Spenilli' latest book. My class would enjoy it.
Book Review: A Kidlit Classic Summary: 5 Stars
I first read "Maniac Magee" as a preteen. I'm 20 and in college now, and it still has a special place on my bookshelf, the first one I go to for comfort kidlit. The engaging style, lovingly-drawn larger-than-life characters, twisting storyline, and uplifting morals all make it a classic that never fails to offer something fresh. No matter how young or old you are, I recommend the story of Jeffery "Maniac" Magee.
Book Review: A Life-changing story? Summary: 4 Stars
It was for me. When I was 7 years old and in the 2nd I had never read a novel before, not even a shorter one. I didn't much care for reading, I thought it was boring. My teacher, however, saw right through me. When our class made its weekly trip to the library, she recommended this book to me. She told me that if I started to read this book, I wouldn't be able to stop until I'd finished. Turns out she was right. I ended up skipping recess to read part of the story, I just couldn't get enough of it. I ran straight home from the bus that afternoon and kept reading the book, until I had finished it cover-to-cover. I have loved reading ever since then, and this book, in particular, has left an impression with me that hasn't faded in over ten years.
Book Review: A Little Confusing... Summary: 4 Stars
Maniac Magee was a good book, but it jumped around a lot and didn't explain some details. but it was a great story line. I think that it was mostly about diversity and how they kept white and black people on opposite sides of town. I think it would be a good book for the age groups 9-90. it had some big words from time to time which makes it perfect for the age of 9 but adults would still enjoy it! 9 out of 10!
