Book Review: A Thrilling Tale of a Thrilling Boy
Summary: 5 Stars

The novel, Maniac Magee, immerses the reader on a fascinating journey through the eyes of Jeffrey Lionel "Maniac" Magee, a runaway legend that ends up in the racially divided town known as Two Mill. Right from the start, the residents of Two Mill knew there was something special about Maniac, because it's not every day that a mysterious boy arrives in town and manages to perform feats untold of, such as running on a rail. Through his lightheartedness, his ability, and his influence, Maniac challenges the racism that rots the town, attemps finds a real, true home where he is loved, and fights to find the good in all the potentially "bad" people of Two Mills. You'll just want to keep turning and turning and turning the pages of this memorable novel.

Book Review: A Wounderful Read!
Summary: 5 Stars

Maniac Magee is a wounderful book! It is about a kid named Jeffrey Lionel Magee or Manic, who lives in a town where only one street separates the white people's neighborhood from the black people's neighborhood. Maniac is white and when he goes to live with a black family alot of people dissaprove of it. Maniac is not racist and dosn't understand why some people dislikes others because of the color of their skin. When a awful thing happens to the family he's living with, Maniac blames it on himself, so he runs away. Lots of things happen when he's out on the streets. He meets new friends and learns about the true meaning of friendship. Does Maniac go back to his family? You will only find out if you read this fabulous book that will truely captivate you.

Book Review: A book that runs and runs again
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a very special book. A boy loses both of his parents and gets sent to his aunt and uncles. Well there is two of every thing. So Jeffery Lionel "Maniac Magee" runs from his aunt and uncle. He finally finds a home on the east side were blacks live but this was a long time ago when whites and blacks were separated. One day Maniac Magee was running as he usually does. He gets home and eats pizza but he felt very weird so he went to a doctor and found out he is allergic to pizza. The family's house he was staying at had two babies who didn't want a bath so Maniac gets one with them and they were all happy. I'd recommend this book to people who like a powerful, funny, and adventurous book.

Book Review: A decidedly underrated classic
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book when I was about 10 or 11, like many of the young people reviewing it here. I'm 17 now. The other night I found it in a box and decided to read it again - I breezed through it in a couple hours. What I noticed was that, unlike many books aimed at young adults, it had lost very little. It never seemed oversimplified, and many of its themes are as relevant and moving today as they were 7 years ago.

The novel is beautifully written, combining sharp, concise prose with a sort of folk tale mentality that is extremely alluring and captivating. The characters are well-drawn and memorable, and their evolution is interesting. And all along there is plenty of action and excitement to keep the littler ones intrigued.

Maniac Magee is truly a book that people of all ages can enjoy, and one I would recommend most highly to young adults.

Book Review: A fabulous book for all ages
Summary: 5 Stars

My 9-year-old son, who does not love reading, started this book and after reading the first 20 pages declared it a GREAT book. I was curious and read it myself. I loved it. A great book for all ages.
