Book Review: Left me hanging in the balance

Manic left me with more questions than answers and it gives conflicting information. In this small sized book you find in the preface on one hand she says she is unable to keep track of her psychotropic medications, but on the same page she is able to track down events from hospital and police records. All she had to do is request her file from her psychistrists that treated her as well as her therapists. Then she claims that "the illness, ironically has impared me far less than the treatment." What? Not from reading this book! Most devestating she says was the course of ECT treatments she underwent in 1994 and she claims that "the world never seemed as sharp and clear as it did before the ECT." But that is fifteen years after the fact and at the end of the book she writes that ECT only affects short term memory???
The real question is how did she manage to graduate high school, Vassar, UCLA law and work for top law firms with such severe life threatening Anorexia and Manic Depression. She was wrongly medicated, overmedicated and misdiagnosed for quite a while to boot. While in bed for days on end as a child she does not mention much as to the reaction of her parents. Was her parents so dysfunctional that such behaviors were the norm? Not attending classes, or mess hall and scrounging through the trash at night for left over food. Not coming in to work and if she did coming in at night...
In one interview she claimed that she got this at age 16. Wrong she was born with it. In another interview I saw her help an interviewer diagnose and speak at lenght about Britney Spears of all people. Now she is a pyschiatrist who can diagnosis people at a distance?
Finally in another interview she said she started writing a clinical book but decided not to, and instead we have some thing tragic and sexy at the same time. No wonder why HBO has optioned it, to bad she did not write the clinical book since it could have actually helped other sufferers.
