Book Review: Incredible Biography of a Transcendent Athlete

This biography is amazing. It tells the complete story of American basketball legend, Pete Maravich. It was written with the co-operation of the Maravich family and it shows. It's informative, thrilling and heartbreaking. The definitive account of a Pennsylvania boy who turned basketball into theater.
The layout is simple (chronological): from the steel mills of Pennsylvania, a childhood in the South, LSU, the NBA, a religious conversion, death, and Maravich's continued influence on today's game - it's all here. There will never be another Pistol Pete (he averaged over 44 points a game at college) and this book explains why.
The NY Times called it the "essential" Maravich biography. I couldn't agree more.
Maravich died at age 40 from an undiagnosed congenital heart desease. Doctors were amazed to find that he had only ONE coronary artery. He should have never lived to age 20.
Plus the authors added comprehensive statistics and a list of Pistol Pete's 25 Greatest Games.
I wish I could give MARAVICH 10 stars.
