Book Reviews of Mars Needs Moms!Book Review: Great book for kids and grownups Summary: 5 Stars
I heard about this book when Berkeley Breathed was interviewed on NPR. It sounded great on the air and when I bought it for my 3 year-olds we were all transfixed. Of course, my kids weren't the ones with tears in their eyes at the end, but they still enjoyed it. There are several great features in the book that are totally for adults, which makes it that much more readable. I gave it as a Christmas present to every kid I had to buy a present for. It's a really great story and the drawings are fantastic.
Book Review: Great gift for moms Summary: 5 Stars
Very clever story that open kids' eyes to how amzing moms really are. Terrific illustrations. I discovered it as a gift to my 5-yr-old daughter, but I now buy it for all my favorite moms.
Book Review: Hilarious, quirky and wonderful (I think that about sums it up)! Summary: 5 Stars
Milo just does not get what the big deal is about mothers. They are bossy slave drivers that stop you from having any fun. However, when the strange-looking men from Mars show up, hoping to steal some mothers for themselves, Milo quickly learns what is so great about them.
I must say, I love Berkeley Breathed's children's books! His illustration work is hilarious, adding a lot to this already wonderful book. Part of what makes it so great is how wonderfully quirky everything is, and how does he get such depth to his color pictures?
This is a great book that I had to grab, take home, and read to my little one and my wife. They enjoyed it, and so will you. We give this book my highest recommendations!
Book Review: I Like Broccoli... Summary: 4 Stars
Sadly, young sons often take their Moms for granted. Many of us do eventually learn to like broccoli.
Here, Breathed shows his softer side, undoubtedly brought on by fatherhood. Wonderful images and a touching tale... a sweet bedtime read with the Pee-wees.
Book Review: I want my mommy! Summary: 5 Stars
The illustrations in this book were absolutely stunning. But should we expect anything less from Berkeley Breathed, the Pulitzer Prize winning author and creator of Bloom County and Opus? Milo wonders what is so special about mothers; they make you do want you do not want to do, don't let you do want you do want to do; make you eat what you do not want and so on. Then when Aliens invade and start kidnapping moms, he stows away to rescue his. It is a wonderful story sure to be enjoyed by the young and those who read to them.
