Book Review: A Standard
Summary: 5 Stars
I've studied percussion from middle school through college. This is a must have Standard for any drummer / percussionist. Many of the exercises within the book were taught to me before I owned the book and I never realized where they came from until I purchased this book. Joe Morello is a very well known and respected educator / performer and was taught by a very well known and respected educator (George L. Stone).
This book contains exercises for stick control, accents, endurance, time, etc. A truly valuable resource. Get this and Stick Control by Stone, practice them with a metronome everyday and you'll have the foundation to reach your potential. If you can't read music, I highly recommend you learn. It isn't difficult, just apply yourself and you'll find you've opened up many more opportunities and improved yourself as a musician in every facet.
