Book Review: Delightful "none PC" mayhem with Matilda as ultimate heroine

The best thing about this book, which kept our 6 year old in enthralled, is the reality of the emotions. Love, hate, pain, triumph, fear. All are expressed in a way which gets right to the heart of real feelings. It appeals to the baser as well as the higher instincts and is all the better for it. People are cruel as well as kind, children know this. This book is terribly funny, scary, disgusting and moving - often all on the same page!It seems to capture children's hearts because the adults in it are both the best of the best and the worst of the worst. Exagerated, of course, but Matilda's triumph is all the more wonderful because the enemy is so formidable
A perfect "chapter or two a night" book to read to a 6 year old as well as for older readers.
