Book Review: Max the Mighty
Summary: 4 Stars

p "Max the Mighty" by Rodman Philbrick is a sequel to the book "Freak the Mighty". In this book Max, the main character, is still sulking over the loss of his friend when he finds a girl by the name of Racheal(nicknamed worm) who befriends him. This girl, he soon finds out, is in a lot of trouble with her step-dad. One time when Max tries to stop him from doing anything to her he carries her out of the house and they hide for a while. The step dad goes and tells the police that Max tried to hurt Racheal. Max sudenly finds himself traveling across America with this girl to meet her father who will supposibly know what to do. They go through a lot of adventures together and begin a very strong relationship as friends. This book was very good. It showed a lot about friendship. I don't know if it's as good as the first but i do recommend you read it.

Book Review: Max the Mighty
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a great story, although not as good as the first book called Freak the Mighty. This story is exciting and fun to read. The end of the story is the best part. This story tends to be on going and it doesn't really give you the idea that it is a second part to Freak the Mighty. This story is very different than the first. It doesn't tell much about Kevin who was Max's best friend in the first story. Over all this story is OK. It' s very funny and it has a good plot.

This book is a great story of the friendship between Max, a kid who is very large for his age and is not too bright, and Rachel, also called "worm" because of her huge interest in reading. The story begins at Max's house, where he lives with his grandma and grandpa, who he calls Gram and Grim. The first couple chapters walk you through a normal day in his life. First, walking to school, trying to avoid hoodlums who live on "the wrong side of the tracks. In his classes, being made fun of for being so big and not being so smart. And lastly, taking the bus, where kids simply annoy and annoy him, even though he could easily beat them up. Then the story turns around and shows you Rachel's horrible home life. Her mom is constantly beaten by her stepfather, "the undertaker". A tall, lean man with a heart of stone. When Max realizes this problem, he rescues her and they set off on a long and adventurous journey across the country to find her real dad, who is thought to live in Chivalry, Montana. And this journey has plenty of surprises along the way.

I really liked this book because I felt like I could relate to what some of the characters were going through.

And I would highly recommend this book to any child or adult looking for a great story of friendship and determination. Also could be a good book to read along with your child.

Summary: 4 Stars

I think Max the Mighty is a very good book with lots of thrills and surprises around every corner. The way the author tells the story is interesting. Seeing that they write it in such a way that it sounds like..." 'I go...' and then freak goes..."
See. That will get boring after awhile. But you can still understand the book and the story behind it. In my opinion, this book isnt as good as Freak the Mighty. Because Freak (Kevin) made the story interesting. He made it so, there was a secret behind it all. The Robot Body. (evil laugh) In Max the Mighty,
i can see the characters, but i cant feel them. You know when you get into a really good book and you cant just let it down?
When I do that I can actually FEEL the characters breaths as they exhale. I can feel their cold hands as they touch somebody.
I can feel what the characters feel. In this book I can ALMOST
get the entire feeling. But the story keeps flipping into new surprises and settings. While in Freak the Mighty i feel it right as i open the book. Im not saying this book is bad. It's AWESOME!!!! It's just that i think Freak the Mighty took the inner teen out of us all. And that's what that book was made for. I have gotten pretty far in the book. But I cant wait to hear of another _________ the Mighty book. Whatever you deside.
