Max and Mei
There are so few bilingual Chinese (Mandarin) and English books on the market that this is a refreshing change! And to boot the illustrations are good instead of the usual tired and washed out stuff one usually finds in Chinese readers. The stories are also fun, with a little twist, rather than a moralising tale. The text is in English, Chinese Characters (simplified) and pinyin. And the accompanying CD has the story read in English, then in Chinese, and then in Chinese with pauses for the child to repeat after the narrator.
My only criticism (hence 4 instead of 5 stars) is that I'd like to have seen some verbs in the vocabulary list and not just nouns and adjectives, and I'd like to have had the 3rd reading of the stories as bilingual phrases / sentences ie. Chinese followed by English or viceversa.
