Maxims of Christian Chivalry hoenstly changes the individual reader of its pages. Its vision of the Christian Sir, in being clear, useful, honest and necessary for all, compels the reader to change himself, to rethink the world and everything he has ever been shown. Never again do the ideals of James Bond as the central theme of class, honor, and manliness reverberate: only the message of true men, whose lives were given freedom and fulfillment beyond all measure by these things: Love, Honour, Humility, Prayer, Trust, Sacrifice, and more. Maxims of Christian Chivalry is an excellent book indeed, for it opens a glorious door of ideals, but better, of ideals able to be lived out. To those about to decry the virtue of being a Man, a Christian, of Chivalry, I ask but this: which of your principles have led to the betterment of Mankind, a more loving relation with women, a more exemplary life? Chivalry is indeed a thing worth living, for it changes all aspects of life, from religion, to relations, to work, to school, to everything. Kenelm Henry Digby did a superb job in these excerpts; it is only too bad that such vision and livings is lacking today. As further recommendations, see CS Lewis in The Necessity of Chivalry and Maddox's The Alphabet of Manliness. The latter will leave you laughing and at the same time seeing what has gone wrong in men; the first will open your eyes to what should be.
