Book Reviews of Me : Stories of My Life

Book Review: A Great Read!
Summary: 5 Stars

Her life and her stories are so interesting and the way she tells them makes you almost hear her voice while reading the words. Her phrasing is almost like stream of consciousness (not like Virginia Woolf-stream of consciousness, just very fragment-y, incorrect grammar, etc.) I got the feeling that what she allows the reader to learn about is only a small fraction of what she really knows and has experienced in her life, not to mention that the stories are more than likely a little one-sided at times, as if the other person in the story, if you could talk to them, would have a completely different version of the same event. But that's part of the attraction of the book for me.
Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot on Spencer Tracy, and leaves a bunch to the reader's imagination in that department (Spencer was married to someone else the entire time they were a "couple" and she alludes to the fact that they spent time living together; how did this work?). But you definitely pick up on her absolute reverence for the man and their relationship, which is why she doesn't reveal much.
Overall it's a fascinating glimpse inside the workings of one of America's most famous, most talented, most enigmatic actresses with SO many quirks and interesting ideas and beliefs about life.

Book Review: A beautiful tale
Summary: 5 Stars

about Katharine Hepburn with her own words. Very personal and full of insights about life and how to live it. In fragments she sums up the important moments of her life and the people she befriended. Spencer Tracy is an enigma. A beautiful love story, but with the bittersweet taste of not being able to reach all the way through to the person you love. A story of a strong woman with a strong personality.

Book Review: A great book according to Homer Simpson
Summary: 5 Stars

One of Homer Simpson's favorite books, along with TV Guide and Son of Sniglet.

Book Review: A true American Icon
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was wonderful to read. She shares deeply about her life and what happened to her. She talks about her loves and even how hard she works. There is a story about how long she had to work through a day before she could see an eye doctor to have a small piece of metal removed from her eye. She share her political views and She was tough as nails. This is a great read I suggest to anyone.

Book Review: A woman to be admired and cherished...from author of EXPLOSION IN PARIS...
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved the chat with the wonderful,down-to-earth Katharine Hepburn. I loved the chance to get to know the REAL WOMAN. She was a real human being, one you'd be honored to call "friend". I really enjoyed this most memorable memoir. I actually read it a while ago and have bought other biographies of her since. This was special, in her words, her private memories, NOT written by someone else to add the possibility of mistakes, enhancing, and probably untruths. Katharine Hepburn was one of the greats, one who truly MADE A DIFFERENCE. What a life! I've watched all of her movies more than a few times. One I've watched even more than the rest was GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER with Sidney Poitier, (another autobiography, THE MEASURE OF A MAN, that SHOULD NOT BE MISSED!), and Spencer Tracy. Spence was very ill making movie and died shortly after it was finished, hence the real tears in Kate's eyes in the movie. The intelligent, meaningful, thought-provoking dialogue in that movie can't be measured up to! The atmosphere leaves you with such a sense of well-being and dignity. Kate's essence led the way for women to WANT to be independent, classy, dignified and down-to-earth at the same time. She was a ONE-OF-A-KIND, for sure, a woman to be admired and cherished!
