Book Reviews of Meditations for Manifesting : Morning and Evening Meditations to Literally Create Your Heart's Desire

Book Review: Love Dyer's work, but not thrilled with this CD
Summary: 2 Stars

I really like the chanting. It makes it easier for me than just staying quiet. What irks me is that he has a negative affirmation that says, and I'm paraphrasing, "my prejudices stop me from seeing the good in other people." I think he meant to say, "do not," but reaffirming the negative is not a good thing. Someone should have caught this. Also, he says "we're not going to do this the way I do it every day." What's the point in telling the listener that? Aren't we spiritually evolved enough to do it the way he does it? Comes across as condescending. Given the quality of his work, I was really unimpressed with this CD.

Book Review: Wow
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow, this is a great opportunity to get in touch with yourself and really cause something new in your life. I focused on abundance and almost immeaditly I was moving into a new house with a lower rent, saving money on my taxes, car insurance, and planning a new vacation in Jackson Hole, WY. This is a very powerful access to the wonderful world of intention.

Book Review: Great for every Day
Summary: 5 Stars

When I was using this every day I got some incredible results - simply incredible....

Book Review: Manifest Your Desires on your daily commute
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this CD (and the earlier cassette version) for several years: I think it's really valuable, but I understand the concerns expressed by other reviewers.

The good part: It presents a basic meditation system which is easy to learn and follow. You start with the "AH" meditation in the morning to manifest abundance and then end the day with an "OM" meditation for gratitude. I have found that money, friends, relationships, and other things seem to come into my life more easily and frequently when I take the time to play the CD and do the meditation. But there's the rub for me: take the time. My day (like yours I suspect) is pretty busy. But I have about a 20 minute commute to work and I have found that my commute seems to flow better when I use the "AH" on the way in and the "OM" on the way home. It helps that I leave early and enjoy watching the sun rise as I drive into work. I just fast-forward past suggestions about relaxing (the actual AH meditation starts 4 1/2 minutes into the first track), and obviously I don't close my eyes. I am able to drive while saying "AH" with no trouble-- certainly better than when I try to drive using a cell phone! Obviously, if you find following the CD makes you drowsy or distracted in any way-- then don't use it in your car.

The downside: I agree with other reviewers comments about Dr. Dyer's talking-- it's OK the first few times but after awhile I want to focus on the sound of AH and OM. Plus I don't particularly like the poem he reads on the "OM" meditation- it's distracting and a little weird. And I wish he had asked his lovely daughter who has a beautiful voice to do the chanting. But, then, this isn't about sounding beautiful or perfect. I just turn down the volume and continue. And I also find I just naturally "tune out" the verbiage. And I suspect that's Dr. Dyer's goal-- he just wants people to try the technique; I doubt if he's wedded to our listening to his voice every day.

If you can't handle the vocal parts of this disc, there are some other CD's that have nice "AH" and "OM" sounds. If you're comfortable with mantras, check out Deva Premal's Songs for the Inner Lover or Love Is Space. Novus Magnificat: Through the Stargate may particularly appeal to Christians/Catholics. Chanting Om, Healing Sounds of the Ancients, Vol. 3, or almost any of Kelly Howell's meditation CD's such as Awakening Kundalini are also good choices. You can sing or chant AH or OM to them. All are available through Amazon.

Back to Dr. Dyer's disc: give it a try. Dyer's voice takes a little getting used to, but keep at it for 30 days. Watch what manifests.

Book Review: Not the best mediation CD I've ever heard...
Summary: 3 Stars

I guess it just wasn't what I expected. I didn't find it as soothing as I thought... Maybe I'm just not used to his style.
