Book Review: Good for Listening, Good for Learning

This book is not for everybody, but if you play accordion and/or are charmed by the accordion's sound, here are 3 reasons to buy it:
1. The Music CD: ...is fun to listen to. Dan Newton's techinque is impressive. His tunes (most are his own) have a way of staying in your head when the music is gone. Whether you play or not, you'll enjoy listening to the CD. See reviews of the CD if you need more testamonials.
2. The Music Book: This applies more to players. If you follow along in the book as you listen to the tunes, you see all the "extras" Newton puts into each work. He doesn't always play the songs strictly as written. You will hear this in the ornamentation, rhythm, and the way the bass part is more complicated than just playing the chords. The bass parts are the hardest to learn, but they're very satisfying if you stick with it.
3. The Price: The book includes a CD, and it sells for less than the CD by itself. The only thing you don't get with the book is the CD case.
I have gotten more than my money's worth out of this item.
