Book Review: Great Story, Great Read

Great book that follows the storyline from MGS completely. The only problem i had was that in the beginning of the book Snake has a very arrogant personality, but torwards the end he acts more like the cool and calm hero we all love. Excellent book. BUY :)Book Review: Great game, awful book

I have been a big fan of MGS since the first game, so naturally I leapt at the chance to read an MGS novel. Unofrtunately what we have here is one of the worst books imaginable. They have taken the great characters from the game and turned them into cartoon characters. The writing is horrible and insulting. I feel sorry for anyone who spends money or time reading this book.Book Review: Hilariously awful

This book is horrible. The writing style is bad, the one-liners are jaw dropping horrible, and there are random references to the later games that just don't make sense. Solid Snake is transformed into every bad 80s action hero, Liquid Snake is somehow even more flamboyant and idiotic, and the rest of FOXHOUND are so out of character it's wince worthy. Psychology itself doesn't get away unscathed (PTSD does not work like that!).
I could not put it down. It's so bad it almost circles the drain back to good. There are some points where it verges on brilliant and amazing, and then come lines like "She rather enjoyed scaring the poor man; that was ironic because she was a woman," the invoking of Godwin's Law while talking to Otacon, or the oft quoted Christmas line.
All in all, if you take the Metal Gear Solid series seriously, don't even look in this book's direction. If you like to laugh at bad writing and have some knowledge of the series, you will love this book.

Solid Snake is brought out of retirement by the government to fight terrorist. The terrorist have nuclear weapons and possession of an island that is a nuclear disposal facility. They threaten to blow up the world.
Several of the characters have paranormal abilities due to DNA enhancement. I found the dialogue to the contrived. This novel is based on the video game. Metal Gear Solid is action packed though most of it is unbelievable. Raymond Benson is well known for his James Bond novels. If you like the game you will enjoy the book.
