Book Review: An absolutely excellent text!

Microbiology is possibly the best text I have used so far as an undergraduate biologist. It makes the information so clear that practically anyone would be able to pick it up and learn about various aspects of microbiology without confusion. The book is crammed with up to date work in the field, but leaves out a lot of unnecessary waffle. The diagrams and colour photographs make the learning experience much more enjoyable and easier to understand. The edition I have comes with a free tutorial CD, and while it does not cover every topic found in the book, it certainly tackles some of the more difficult ones. Again, the CD uses text and diagrams from the book and the interactive technique of learning is a lot more effective. The book covers a range of microbiology, from practical laboratory techniques, microbiological diseases and a superb section on the applications of microbiology in industry. Over all, I highly recomend this reasonably priced text to any first year undergraduate or A-level student as an excellent introduction to microbiology.
