Book Reviews of Midnight Rising (The Midnight Breed, Book 4)Book Review: Follow Up Does NOT Disappoint True Paranormal Romance Fans Summary: 4 StarsWhen I am in the mood for a paranormal romance, especially one featuring vampires, I prefer ones with an alpha male figure as the protagonist. And while Lara Adrian's vampires are not as "alpha" as say J. R. Ward's vampires -- they have a softer side which is also endearing and fits the plots of her stories.
If you have been following the series, this book is about Rio who is the vampire who got "jacked up" in the explosion in a previous novel.
The story is basically about him finding a reason to live and move on with his life, forgive the sins of the past, and find love again. I think it's the find love again part that was a hard sell for me at first.
I like my vamps to be one-woman guys. Either their soulmate or die! So when Rio found a new love interest in this book (which of course I knew it would be) I wanted to see how the author would play it out.
She did a good job. And I actually found this book to be a great read - and more importantly it delivered just what I expected from the author (unlike Ward's Phury novel). A great paranormal romance with a great continuing (soap opera style) subplot.
If you are new to the series, start from the beginning. But if you have been reading the series and you were just double-checking to see if you should even bother with this title - please do!
Book Review: RIO'S STORY, WOW! Summary: 5 StarsCouldn't have asked for a better story. I have loved this whole series and was thrilled that Rio's story was out. Dylan was a great character and really held her own in this story. And Rio was . . . well, just Rio. Struggling to adjust after almost being killed, being scarred for life, and having been betrayed by a woman he had loved. To find someone like Dylan was just perfect for him. I'm not sure why some of the people think Dylan wasn't very smart. Terrific story. Can't wait for the next one.
Book Review: Another great book!!! Summary: 5 StarsThis book is about Rio, the vampire who ended up half burned and half crazed by the betrayal of his Breedmate. In this book he meets with Dylan, a Breedmate who sees ghost and sees the ghost of Eva, Rio's dead Breedmate, who asks of her to rescue Rio.
The book is very much in the style of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series, and I loved it. The only thing that I would like is that when Rio talks in Spanish the Spanish was well-written, because it had some flaws.
Book Review: Ready for another Summary: 5 StarsThis series is always a great read... I couldn't wait till the book came out, It is a great addition to the series. I highly suggest this book for a great night in.
Book Review: Boring and contrived Summary: 2 StarsThe Formula has gotten old. I could not wait to read Rio's story after reading Tegan's story. I was starting to really like this series although it is a BlackDaggerBro.Hood Rip-off. It was a pretty good Rip-off. But she bored me with the heroinne what's-her-name and Rio's Alphaness never really came to fruition. Do Better Ms. Adrian. Also, that fake wanna-be-Butch-Cop was a douche in this book.
