Book Review: Excellent idea - great delivery

This is one of currently four Jazz-themed books from the people at "Baby Loves Music" that comes with a "Cool Jazz CD Inside" as the cover says. It further promises "sing-alongs, stories, and more" which might get some people's hopes up higher than what they will find as the content is "simply" Jazz music to illustrate the pictures in the book. But don't get the impression that you are not getting your money's worth here. These are some of the coolest children books I have come across. Actually, I think they are THE coolest due to the music on the CDs included. My two year old daughter loves them. Each CD runs between 15 and 20 minutes with each track clocking in one to two minutes so that young children can keep the excitement up.
My congratulations to the person who had the vision to produce Miles The Crocodile Plays The Colors Of Jazz. Many people could have thought of and created a book showing a snowman to introduce the color white, a fire engine to display red or some pink piglets. But already in the book are some nice surprises, like Black which "feels heavy and mean, blowing dark circles and making loud screams" - like the bats coming through the exhaust fumes. Or Green which "feels like a dream / about polka-dot fish swimming upstream". But it's the music that tops it all: "So as you can see, and feel, and hear / When Miles plays the trumpet, jazz colors appear." You'll love Purple, Black, and the whole spectrum.
